Foundation
BSBIOS was founded on April 15, 2005 in Colorado/RS. After feasibility study, it was concluded that Passo Fundo/RS should be the installation site of the industry.
2006
Foundation Stone
On June 20, 2006, the company's cornerstone was inaugurated, with the presence of several authorities, including the President of the Republic, Luís Inácio Lula da Silva.

Agreement with the Government of RS
In November 2006, an agreement was signed with the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul to promote biodiesel, aiming at the planting of oilseeds for biodiesel production. Caixa RS, Emater, Fepagro, Embrapa and Bank of Brazil are also part of the protocol of intentions.
2007
Biodiesel production began
On June 12, 2007, biodiesel production began officially, with a capacity to produce 345 m³/day, i.e., 124.2 million liters of biodiesel per year. The process is monitored in all stages, in a complete laboratory, which performs tests and analysis, certifying the efficiency and quality of the product.

Social Fuel Seal
In August 1, 2007, the Grant of the Right to Use the Social Fuel Seal for BSBIOS was published. The Social Fuel Label is an identification component granted by the Federal Government to biodiesel producers that promote social inclusion and regional development through the generation of employment and income for family farmers framed in the criteria of the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture - Pronaf.
2007
Research Cooperation with Embrapa
In October 2007, a research cooperation network was formed with the BSBIOS Development Department for the cultivation of alternative crops such as canola, sunflower and castor bean. The network is formed in a partnership with EMBRAPA - Temperate Climate of Pelotas / RS, and with the support of FETAG-RS, EMATER, the Ministry of Agrarian Development - MDA, the Agricultural Colleges of the North Regions, Missions and Plateau of Rio Grande do Sul, Universities and several seed and fertilizer companies.

Inauguration of the Grain Receiving Unit
In March 2008, the first Grain Receiving Unit (soybean and canola) located in Passo Fundo/RS was inaugurated.

Export Authorization
On March 6, 2008, BSBIOS became the first company in Brazil to receive authorization from the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels - ANP to export biodiesel.
2009
Acquisition of the Marialva Unit
BSBIOS acquired a biodiesel production unit in the municipality of Marialva/PR. The place was going through a process of judicial recovery, was with an unfinished and abandoned industry. BSBIOS invested in civil works, equipments and licenses to recover the site.

B100 in Curitiba/PR
In August 2009, the city of Curitiba/PR adopted the use of B100 in urban collectives; the biofuel is supplied exclusively by BSBIOS. Buses run on the urban stretch of the BR-476, in the capital of Paraná. This was the first initiative in Brazil, operating 100% with biofuel in urban buses.

Association with Petrobras Biocombustível PR
On November 19, 2009, BSBIOS Marialva and Petrobras Biocombustíveis (PBio) signed a partnership, with equity, for biodiesel production, in the municipality of Marialva/PR. The industry started with a production capacity of 127 million liters of biodiesel/year.

Inauguration of BSBIOS in Marialva
On May 14, 2010, BSBIOS Marialva was officially inaugurated. The unit produces biodiesel through vegetable oil and animal fats.

Operation Overwhelming
On November 18, 2010, went into operation the Grain Processing Unit with initial capacity to crush 2,500 ton/day of soybeans. The complex has three warehouses, with a capacity of 120,000 tons of grain and 66,000 tons of bran.

Biodiesel in the largest bus in the world
In March 2011, the capital of Paraná began to have the largest bus in the world in length, with 28 meters and capacity for 250 passengers. The collective is powered by biodiesel, supplied exclusively by BSBIOS. Another 32 articulated buses, powered with 100% biodiesel also run through Curitiba /PR.

GMP+B2 and GMP+B3 Certification
On May 31, 2011, BSBIOS received GMP+B2 and GMP+B3 certification, issued by DNV (DET NORKES VERITAS). This certification attests compliance with international requirements related to Food Safety in its production and marketing chain.

Association with Petrobras Biocombustível
On July 1, 2011, BSBIOS and Petrobras Biocombustíveis (PBio) signed a partnership with a two-way stake in biodiesel production, also in the municipality of Passo Fundo/RS.

Hibribus at Rio+20
In June 2012, BSBIOS, together with the city hall of Curitiba, Volvo and Marcopolo, launched, during the Rio+20 Conference, the Hybrid, a bus powered by biodiesel and electricity. There are 30 Hibribus vehicles circulating in Curitiba/PR, with biofuel supplied exclusively by BSBIOS.

Grain Receiving Unit - Ciríaco
From October 2012, work began on more grain receiving unit in Cruzaltinha, in the municipality of Ciríaco/RS.

Acquisition of 14 Grain Receiving Units
On February 28, 2013, BSBIOS announced the acquisition of 14 grain receiving units that belonged to Coxilha Fertilizers, located in the north of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. A seed production unit was also acquired in Lagoa Vermelha (RS). They are located in Valinhos, in Passo Fundo, Água Santa, Três Pinheiros, in Sananduva, Muitos Capões, Capão Bonito do Sul, Lagoa Vermelha, Esmeralda, Tapejara, Capo-Erê, in Erechim, Sertão, Charrua, Rio Telha, in Ibiaçá, Engenho Grande, in Água Santa and Vila Lângaro.

Export of Biodiesel
On June 25, 2013, BSBIOS became the first company in Brazil to export biodiesel commercially. The first cargo, of 22 ton, was destined for Europe.

ISCC Certification
In January 2014, BSBIOS' two industrial plants, in Passo Fundo and Marialva, received the International Sustainability Certification (ISCC) (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) for biodiesel produced in the units.

President of Honduras
On June 16, 2014, BSBIOS received a visit from Honduran President, Juan Orlando Hernández and Honduran Congress President, Mauricio Oliva. The authorities were learning more about the project in the areas of energy, especially biodiesel and agribusiness.

Accreditation NBR ISO/IEC 17025
In October 2014, the laboratories of the Passo Fundo and Marialva plants were accredited in NBR ISO/IEC 17025 by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO), a standard that internationally standardizes the activities of the testing and calibration laboratories. Accreditation ensures the reliability of the results of the analyses performed for certification of biodiesel produced in the units.
2016
Sale of grain receiving units
On July 1, 2016, BSBIOS signed a sales contract for the fourteen Receiving and Storage Units of BSBIOS for Cooperativa Cotrijal. The negotiation provides for a cooperation agreement whereby Cotrijal will supply raw materials (soybeans) to BSBIOS. The strategy was to keep the focus on the industry.

Sustainability Reports
In 2017, BSBIOS began the practice of publishing the Sustainability Report, based on the international Global Report Initiative - GRI methodology, in an engaging manner, through its employees, stakeholders and consulting of the Foundation Institute of Economic Research - FIPE.

Great Place to Work Certification
In May 2019, BSBIOS participated in the evaluation process of Great Place to Work – GPTW, being recognized as a great company to work for. The research evaluated management practices in five dimensions, such as respect, credibility, impartiality, camaraderie and pride in belonging to the company.

On November 14, 2019, BSBIOS was certified in the National Biofuels Policy (Renovabio), being empowered to participate in the CBios market (Decarbonization Credits) from animal fats.

On December 5, 2019, Paraguayan President, Mario Abdo Benítez was getting to know closely a biodiesel industry, similar to the investment that the ECB Group, by entrepreneur Erasmo Carlos Battistella, will make in the city of Villeta, near Asunción, Paraguay.

ISCC Certification
In August 2020, the two industrial plants of BSBIOS, in Passo Fundo and Marialva, received again the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for biodiesel produced in units from animal fats.

Corporate Consolidation
On December 23, 2020, ECB Group acquired the 50% of BSBIOS shares owned by Petrobras Biocombustível, unifying 100% of the company.

Announcement of the Omega Green biorefinery in Paraguay
The Omega Green project is the largest private investment in Paraguay's history and includes the construction of the first advanced biofuels plant in the Southern Hemisphere. Renewable diesel or HVO, renewable aviation kerosene or SPK, and Green Naphtha will be produced.

The document establishes the company's ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Strategy, called '10 Cs', which define the commitment to create and share value for the sake of sustainability.

Aprobio Quality Seal
On June 30, the Company received the certification of the 'APROBIO Quality Seal – Biodiesel Super A' for the Passo Fundo/RS and Marialva/PR units. The Seal is a voluntary audit program of the member mills of the Association of Biofuel Producers of Brazil - APROBIO, which evaluates the capacity to produce biodiesel according to quality standards that exceed the Brazilian specification and also the use of good practices for the shipment of the product.

Acquisition of MP Biodiesel, new BSBIOS Switzerland
BSBIOS acquired 100% of the MP Biodiesel plant located in Domdidier, in the Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. The unit uses exclusively canola UCO and, to a lesser extent, sunflower as raw material.

ISO 14001 e 45001
In March, the industrial units of Passo Fundo and Marialva received the certifications of ISO 14001, which refers to the Environmental Management System, and ISO 45001, concerning the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, through an external audit, carried out by the certifying body BVQI – Bureau Veritas Quality International.

Structuring of a Decarbonization Plan
The Action Plan for decarbonization and energy transition will seek to implement practical solutions and measures in strategic areas: seeking energy efficiency in the industry, working on the value chain of suppliers and inputs, establishing new models of mobility and transportation of products that impact emissions, implementing technologies and solutions to reduce emissions, and developing training and awareness among employees and stakeholders.

Protocol of intent with the government of Rio Grande do Sul for the implementation of an ethanol plant
The document establishes articulated actions to enable investments in the first phase of the implementation of a plant unit that produces ethanol and bran from the processing of cereals (corn, wheat, triticale, rice, sorghum, among others).

Be8 won the Gold Seal in the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, certifying its inventory of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with the highest level of qualification.

Acquisition of the La Paloma unit in Paraguay
BSBIOS has acquired the La Paloma Industrial Complex, a company located in La Paloma del Espíritu Santo, in the Department of Canindeyú, Paraguay. The complex has a soybean crushing and biodiesel production unit.

First export of LCFS/EPA certified biodiesel to the United States
In February 2023, we completed the first Brazilian biodiesel export operation to the United States. The volume was Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) certified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

On turning 18 years old, BSBIOS updated the brand and is now Be8. The change reflects the strategic growth and internationalization process of the national leader in biodiesel production, which consolidates itself as a global technology company focused on renewable energies.

Announcement of the Soybean Crushing project in Marialva
On June 14, the construction of the Soybean Crushing unit in Marialva/PR was announced. The facility will have a processing capacity of 5,000 tons per day of soybeans to produce soybean oil, meal and hulls.

Announcement of the Ethanol Project in Passo Fundo
On August 4, the investment in the largest large-scale ethanol plant in Rio Grande do Sul was announced. The unit will process 525,000 tons per year of cereals, producing 209 million liters of ethanol (anhydrous or hydrated), 140,000 tons per year of bran for the animal protein chain and 35,000 tons/year of vital gluten. The announcement was made in the presence of the Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckimin.
