BSBIOS fulfills two years of production

Date is celebrated with the acquisition of the paranaense plant. June 12th 2009 marks two years of biodiesel production by BSBIOS Indústria e Comércio de Biodiesel Sul Brasil S.A. The plant commenced to be installed in the end of 2005, and in June 12th 2007 it began its production of biodiesel in Passo Fundo, town chosen due to its good location, besides being a center of an important grain producer region. The industry produces and commercializes biodiesel with high quality pattern, developing alternative crops as canola and sunflower, benefiting agribusiness and family agriculture and it is always committed to socio-environmental development. The plant has a production capacity of 159 million liters biodiesel per year.

The chief executive officer of BSBIOS, Erasmo Carlos Battistella reports that the beginning of the activities in this plant was marked by uncertainties before the biodiesel program in the country, but the situation was gradually improving, for instance, with the definition of the addition of 4% biodiesel in mineral diesel. The sector keeps encouraged to search the market of B5.

In the first year of activities, 90 million liters of biodiesel were produced by BSBIOS, with prediction to reach 110 million this year.

Erasmo Battistella emphasizes that celebration of two years production occurs with the conquest of the acquisition of unit AGRENCO in Marialva in Paraná, with an investment of R$ 78 million, and might create 120 direct jobs and more than 3 thousand indirect jobs. The activities will begin this year, and for 2010, it is already predicted a production of 95 million liters of renewable fuel, from soybean, canola and sunflower. Its full production capacity might be reached in 2013, when the plant will be able to supply all paranaense market, besides making sales possible to São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina. "Our focus is to lead the national sector and become the first company in Brazil, to export biodiesel to the world", he asserted.

With the acquisition of the paranaense plant, BSBIOS enlarges its current production capacity from the current 159 million liters of biodiesel per year to 320 million liters. Besides, the industry has begun the construction of the grain crushing unit in Passo Fundo, which is in earthmoving works stage. Only with work, devotion and vision on the future is that we can keep on growing and contributing with the development of our country. We all are congratulated!
