Go BackBSBIOS will be at Rio+20
Industry will participate in debates on sustainable energy and will be present in the area of exhibitions
BSBIOS, which is a biodiesel industry, will be present at the Conference of the United Nations for the Sustainable Development - Rio+20, from 13 to 22 of June at Riocentro, in Rio de Janeiro. At the event, the company will be at the stand of the City Hall of Curitiba/PR, because of the supplying of biodiesel to project Linha Verde, and will participate in debates.
The chief executive officer of BSBIOS, Erasmo Carlos Battistella, is one of the special guests of the Brazilian government in "Dialogues for Sustainable Development", a block of ten panels of debates which is consisted of strategic themes for the global agenda of sustainable development. The objective of this initiative is to promote more engagement by several actors from the civil society. This businessman, who is also the president of the Association of Biodiesel Producers of Brazil (APROBIO), was invited to contribute and report his experiences accumulated in discussions with relation to theme "Sustainable Energy for everybody", on 18 of June, at 11:00 am, at Riocentro. The idea is that the results of the debates are an instrument to present visions and recommendations to the chiefs of state and other representatives of governments gathered at the conference in the last few days of the event.
Battistella emphasizes that, at this moment, when the whole world is focused on green economy, is necessary to think about the energy which will move the productive motor of the country and world. "I believe that the motor of green economy must be based on the production of renewable energies that do not damage the environment and which main focus is sustainability," spoke Battistella.
The businessman highlights that it is important to show action towards the environment preservation and social inclusion which has been done with the use of biodiesel in Brazil, and how we can evolve with the increase of the percentage of the current mixture, which is 5%. "The country evolves a lot with the implantation of the National Program of Production and Use of Biodiesel (PNPB) in 2005, the use of renewable energies turned feasible to include more than 103 thousand family farmers so far, and this number may increase even more. Also, it made possible to reduce the emission of pollutants in the air, and this example can be observed in Curitiba, where collectives ride using B100 (100% of biodiesel), action that could extend to other capitals," he said.
The industry will still be partner of the City Hall of Curitiba at the stand of the exhibition fair which is held at the Parque dos Atletas, in front of Riocentro. At the venue, which is an area of nearly 100 square meters, the paranaense town will launch the Hibribus, a biodiesel and electricity-based-bus built by Marcopolo and which engine is developed with Volvo technology.
Since 2009, BSBIOS is the official supplier of biodiesel to the Program of Emissions Control of the City Hall of Curitiba. Through Linha Verde, a path of collective transportation, 32 articulated buses run by using 100% of biodiesel. This route has been enlarged so that until the end of the year there are more than 80 vehicles operating this way. Today, Linha Verde transport 22 thousand passengers per day, with economy of 20 minutes travel. When they are compared to vehicles Euro 5, compulsory in Brazilian market from this year on, Hibribus emits until 50% less material particulado, 50% less nitrogen oxide and 35% less carbon dioxide.

The company employs directly more than 400 collaborators and more than 1000 indirect ones. The plant also produces reflexes in the field, 30% of all grains acquisition is resulted from the production of around fifteen thousand family farmers producers of soybean and canola in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná.
