Canola National Opening is approaching

Next September 21st, from 12:30 am, at Agropecuária Ireneu Antônio Vian, in the town of Colorado, the "Canola Crop National Opening" and the "Field Day of Canola Crop" will happen. At the event, it will be possible to know the news on the crop, growth techniques and harvest handling. Yet, there will be dynamics with the cut platform and windrowing and technical stands. This is the second year the opening, which shows the increase of the crop in Rio Grande do Sul, happens. According to the coordinator of the Development Sector of BSBIOS Fábio Júnior Benin, the crop is already consolidated and only tends to increase. "The growth area has increased year by year, in 2007 there were 3500 ha only, in 2008 7000 ha, in 2009 10000 ha planted and we reached 2010 with 15000 ha distributed in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná. For us, this means that Canola is gaining market mainly because it is a crop that has liquidity, commercialization guaranteed, it is used the same technology used for soybean and maize, and because it is a great option as crop rotation", he stated.

Field Afternoon

On September 15th, the town of Centenário will also receive an activity towards Canola crop. The "Field Afternoon" is promoted by BSBIOS, EMATER/ASCAR and COTREL. There will be a debate on canola crop handling, production cost and market perspectives grain reception and classification at the occasion.

This will be an opportunity to evaluate more than one production option and ground covering in the winter with excellent income and liquidity perspective.
