Go BackCanola on the agenda: Course will train producers to the production of the vegetable oil
Productive and technological aspects of Canola will be discussed during the "V Course of Training and Dissemination of Technology in Canola" that happens on March 1st, on Tuesday, at 8:00 o'clock, at the auditorium of Embrapa Trigo, in Passo Fundo/RS. There will be panels and lectures during the activities which will approach the public support to Canola production, evaluation of crop 2010, system of support to production and market, climatic perspectives, handling of planting and harvest, among others.
ABrasCanola (Associação Brasileira dos Produtores de Canola), that was founded in December 2010 in Passo Fundo, will be presented during the activity. Yet, in the same day, the Association wishes to deliver a document to the representatives that are invited and who have already confirmed their participation in this important course. Its objective is that the Government can construct a National Program to Encourage the Production and Use of Canola with the entity.
According to the Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (CONAB), in Brazil, the area grown with Canola in 2010, harvest of 2010/11, was 46.3 thousand hectares, superior in 49.4% to harvest of 2009 that planted 31 thousand hectares. Among the states that grow Canola, Rio Grande do Sul is the greatest producer, with 64.99% from the total produced in the country. BSBIOS improved in 2010 an area of 15 thousand ha distributed in 60 towns of North, Northeast and Northwest regions of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná. To the Coordinator of the Development Department of BSBIOS Fábio Júnior Benin, the increase of the area shows the strengthening of this crop, "Canola has been consolidating because it is profitable to producer, present good yield, also because it is a great option in crop rotation, among other factors. This year we wish to grow even more, our goal is to reach 20 thousand of area planted improved by BSBIOS".
The course is a promotion of ABrasCanola and DRS Biofuels (BSBIOS, Banco do Brasil, Associação dos Engenheiros Agrônomos de Passo Fundo, Emater, Embrapa Trigo, Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento-MAPA, Secretaria do Interior-SECRINT, Conselho Municipal de Desenvolvimento Agrário-CMDA of the City Hall of Passo Fundo; Sindicato dos Trabalhadores Rurais de Passo Fundo, Sindicato Rural de Passo Fundo and the Agronomy and Veterinary College of the University of Passo Fundo). The coordination of the event is under the responsibility of the researcher of Embrapa-Trigo, Gilberto O. Tomm.
