Ministry of Agriculture directs growth of canola

Directions of growth in six Brazilian states were published in the Diário Oficial da União. The study of the Ministry of Agriculture and Supply is referred to cultivars adequate for planting and for weather and soil conditions for harvest 2010/2011. The Official publishing brings the guidelines for beans crop, the third harvest in Paraná.

The recommendations for canola growth in Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul and Goiás can be found in administrative rules nº 462 and nº 467. With rural zoning, it is possible to identify the towns and the periods of sowing, under low weather risk conditions.

Canola is resulting from regions of temperate cold weather and fits well to climatic conditions in the South of Brazil, with tolerance towards low temperatures. Recently, the crop was introduced in the Center-West, cultivated in the between-season of soybean, maize and cotton. In Brazil, the vegetable oil was developed by genetic improvement, being known as Spring canola.
