Schedule ESG
At Be8, we work to ensure that our products have the highest levels of quality and are produced sustainably. We have achieved certifications that attest to safety, good production practices and the origin of the raw materials used by the Company, which makes our products valued in the most diverse national and international markets. In this way, we have proven that biofuels emit fewer polluting gases into the atmosphere.
RENOVABIO
The National Biofuels Policy (RenovaBio) was established by Law No. 13.576, of December 26, 2017, aiming to expand the production and use of biofuels in the Brazilian energy matrix. To this end, it considers three strategic axes: the definition of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets, the certification of biofuel production, and Decarbonization Credits (CBIO), which can be traded.
Be8 was one of the first companies to obtain certification to produce biodiesel from animal fats, in 2019. As a result, the Company was able to participate in the Decarbonization Credits market. Within RenovaBio's scope, each CBIO is equivalent to one ton of greenhouse gases not emitted into the atmosphere due to the use of biofuel to replace fossil fuels.
In 2023, we underwent recertification and achieved an improvement in the CBIO emission factor. Our goal is to be carbon neutral by 2030. As Latin America's leading biodiesel producer, we are one of the largest generators of CBIOs in Brazil.
Certified units: Passo Fundo (RS) and Marialva (PR).
Certified Product: Biodiesel.
APROBIO QUALITY SEAL - BIODIESEL SUPER A
The Aprobio Quality Seal is a voluntary audit program of the mills linked to the Association of Biofuel Producers of Brazil (Aprobio). The seal confers on its holder the character of promoter of social inclusion of family farmers and attests to the ability to produce biodiesel according to quality standards that exceed the Brazilian specification, as well as the use of good practices for the shipment of the product.
Certified units: Passo Fundo (RS) and Marialva (PR).
Certified Product: Biodiesel.
ISO 17025
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standard 17025establishes and standardizes international criteria of technical competence for testing and calibration laboratories. The recognition ensures the reliability of the results of the analyses carried out for the certification of the biodiesel produced by Be8. In 2023, the laboratory at the Marialva plant won the approval of an increase in scope, in which three more analytical tests for biodiesel were inserted.
Certified units: laboratories and biodiesel plants in Passo Fundo (RS) and Marialva (PR)
ISO 14001 e 45001
The ISO 14001 standard defines the requirements of an Environmental Management System, while ISO 45001 deals with the specifications of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System. With certification in both, since 2022, we have been working with the Integrated Management System (IMS).
Certified units: Passo Fundo (RS) and Marialva (PR).
ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification)
The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is a leading certification system that supports sustainable, fully traceable, deforestation-free, and climate-friendly supply chains. The EU ISCC is recognized by the European Commission for demonstrating compliance with the sustainability and emission reduction criteria for biofuels and bioliquids defined in RED II, which is Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11/12/2018 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources.
With ISCC EU certification, Be8 can market biofuels in the European market. In 2023, more than 37 thousand tons of biofuels were exported to the European market.
Certified units: Passo Fundo (RS), Marialva (PR), Domdidier (Switzerland) and offices in São Paulo (SP) and Geneva (Switzerland).
Certified products: 23 raw materials, including vegetable oils, animal fats, and used cooking oil (UCO).
EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
The certification, granted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is based on criteria that require the biofuel producer to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program. In 2023, we reached a significant milestone by obtaining registration for the Marialva plant, which became the second biodiesel plant in Brazil to receive such recognition – the first was the Passo Fundo plant. In the same year, we received approval for the export of biodiesel produced at the Passo Fundo and Marialva facilities, totaling approximately 40,000 tons shipped to the United States. Importantly, the exported volumes have undergone a rigorous evaluation to ensure compliance with the requirements of the RFS, as set out in the Quality Assurance Plan.
Registered units: Passo Fundo (RS) and Marialva (PR).
Certified Products: Biodiesel.
GMP+
GMP+ FSA Certification is an international standard that ensures the process, marketing and transportation of food and feed. The main objective is to ensure that companies involved in the production, processing and distribution of agri-food products meet the highest quality standards. Be8 has been certified since 2011, meeting international requirements related to Food Safety in the production and marketing chain.
Certified unit: Passo Fundo (RS).
Certified products: soybean meal, hull and degummed oil.
ISO 14064
Establishes a protocol that directs companies to voluntarily account for and report their greenhouse gas emissions, reductions, or removals. It was won in 2023 by Be8's industrial operation in Switzerland.
Certified units: Domdidier (Switzerland).
